The entire seminar is available online to members only…

Dear Peter and Jean and all,

Thank you Peter and Jean for your excellent presentations and to the other members of IAJS for your participation in this online seminar.

I am reminded of the statement made by John Wheeler an American nuclear physicist “May the universe in some strange sense come into being by those that participate”.

The road is made by walking, online seminars are made by writing and dialogue.

The seminar has eloquently traced threads of ideas; the edited headlines speak for themselves.

  • The drum speaks the ancient language of the belly and solar plexus…
  • Certainly Jung was a master communicator…
  • Working with images as well as words in text form increases cognitive thinking…
  • We agree, I would trust, that: “Eros is possible only where there is difference…
  • Jung frequently denies ‘absoluteness’ but the tone & impact…
  • Individuation can lead to care for the world.
  • Digital interactions are best thought of as the ancient orators
  • Are we not all part of one human family, regardless of our national differences?
  • The psyche bears ‘within itself’ the potential for liberation or destruction…
  • The fate of the individual psyche and that of the anima mundi are not separate…
  • The fantasy in online forums is utterly different than the Republic of Letters…
  • The deprecation of groups is part of a cultural complex that spans dynamics within the social sciences,
  • Some in our community have had the wisdom of the indigenous psyche
  • I have found/still find Jung, and others, deeply enriching to my life…
  • Freddie Gray’s wrongful and violent arrest might have gone uninvestigated…
  • The Internet has brought huge expansion of “mass media”, with far-reaching political…
  • A lot more research needs to be done…
  • I find myself disconcerted by the very ‘niceness’ of the exchanges…
  • What about the ways in which organizations may shelter and foster the trickster, the poet, and the introvert?
  • Internet interaction may serve to rewire and repair deeply damaged relationship patterns
  • It is not that we engage with our differences, it is how we engage.
  • Jung who left Freud to individuate on his own created a path…
  • I am a descendant (if I put it in Freire’s terms) of both oppressor and oppressed
  • The doctrine of ‘sameness’ surreptitiously privileges Western thought as universal.
  • Do we have pretensions to be a sort of mini-capitalist organisation?

Thank you again Peter and Jean, and to all those who participated in making this online seminar such a thought provoking experience.

With warm wishes, Michael and Liz
