Our course, MA Management and Organisational Dynamics, combines the expertise of two internationally-renowned departments, the Centre for Psychoanalytic Studies and Essex Business School. In the most recent national Research Assessment Exercise (RAE, 2008), our University was ranked ninth out 159 universities in the UK for the quality of our research.
The course aims to equip our students with powerful tools to support creative work in organisations. Uniquely it draws on both critical management theory and current thinking on underlying group dynamics. It is designed for leaders, consultants, researchers and others who wish to get to grips with the complex human processes that impact on change in organisations.
Our approach is both robust and reflexive. Seminars draw on contributions from leading thinkers in the field and a priority is given to experiential learning. We aim to foster a fresh take on what is involved in both leadership and followership in the contemporary context.
In recent years our alumni have taken up positions as organisational consultants, progressed to doctoral-level research in the field of management and organisational dynamics, or taken up more senior leadership positions in their area of work.
