How significant is the context within which it was heard, or the ancestors with whom a connection resonates and for whom longing emerges? These thoughts will be explored in the reading of Selma Lagerlöf’s Legend of the Christmas Rose, her poignant exposition of those powerful opposites: anticipation and disappointment.
