Steven Herrmann

Jungian analyst Steven Herrmann has published over forty papers, several chapters, and six books, "William Everson: The Shaman's Call" (2009), "Walt Whitman: Shamanism, Spiritual Democracy, and the World Soul" (2010), "Spiritual Democracy: The Wisdom of Early American Visionaries for the Journey Forward" (2014), "Emily Dickinson: A Medicine Woman for Our Times (2018), and "William James and C. G. Jung: Doorways to the Self" (2020) published by Analytical Psychology Press. ISBN: 978-1-7346582-3-1. He has taught on subjects of Jung, Whitman, and Melville at the C.G. Jung Institutes of San Francisco, Chicago, and Zürich, U.C Berkeley, U.C Santa Cruz, and on Jung and James at Yale University. Steven has a private practice in Oakland, California, where he sees individual adults and couples. He is a practitioner of Yoga, loves to hike in the Redwoods, cook, and to write poetry. He is an international scholar in the area of American pragmatism, analytical psychology, and American poetry. He received his BA in "Depth Psychology and Religion" from U.C. Santa Cruz in 1982. Currently he is writing a lengthy manuscript on "Vocational Dreams."
