Here are further details regarding the topic and our presenter, Professor Stein:

The Self and Political Action
Seeking the Self is presented by Jung as a solipsistic venture to be undertaken over the course of a lifetime. His confirmation of the Self was almost 100 years ago when the population was one quarter of what it is now and the urban decay we witness did not yet exist. For those of us who seek to open to the unconscious and to realize the Self, do we have any duty to the community that supports this venture or should we just keep on with only our own development? If we do sense a duty, at what level does Jungian theory dictate that we take pollical action?

Professor Leslie Stein trained as a Jungian Analyst at the C.G. Jung Institute in New York and is in private practice in Sydney, Australia. His books include Becoming Whole: Jung’s Equation for Realizing God (Helios); Working with Mystical Experiences in Psychoanalysis: Opening to the Numinous (Routledge); The Self in Jungian Psychology: Theory and Practice (Chiron); Editor, Eastern Practices and Individuation: Essays by Jungian Analysts (Chiron); The Journey of Adam Kadmon: A Novel (Arcade New York). He is also on the Board of Directors of the Philemon Foundation. Professor Stein has had a life-long involvement in protecting mental health through urban planning and has advised governments and the UN as to how urban planning affects mental states. He has written four books on that subject matter. Finally, Professor Stein has two forthcoming books: two forthcoming books: Psychedelics and Individuation (with L. Cobett) and Varieties of Nothingness (with D. Rickles), both to be published by Chiron.
